1500HD water leak/minor oil consumption

My son just bought a 2001 1500HD 4X4 with 44,000 miles on it from the used car lot of a Ford dealer.   I tracked down the original owner to ask about it.   He said the only problems he had with it was a small water leak on the front passenger side.   After sitting out in a hard rain, the carpet would be slightly wet under the dash near the door edge.  Sure enought, my son found a wet spot after it rained last night.   Anyone know if there is a common problem here?   The other problem mentioned was slight oil consumption (1-2 QT) of synthetic oil between oil changes.  He mentioned a friend had the same problem on his 1500HD and there was a "new" PCV valve that would help.   Anyone know the part number of this "new" valve? ???

There is a new PCV valve that would address an oil consumption problem in the 5.3L.  I don't know if it would apply to the 6.0L or not, and I'm sorry but I don't know the TSB# or the part #.

The only leak I had in my 2500HD crewcab is through the roof clearance lights.  They were removed and resealed and no more water so far...

My son's truck doesn't have clearance lights.   The wet spot is right at the bottom near the door where that "low" spot is in the floor pan where the two pieces of plasic (side wall piece and floor piece that holds down the carpet) come together.  I've looked under the truck and see nothing unusual.  As far as the PCV #, is this for the 6.0?  Does it make a difference if it was for the 5.3? :D

I would have to say the water leak is from a windshield that isn't properly sealed, or the water is some how coming in through the vent/heater duct work.

I installed the new PCV valve on my 2000 6.0 in Nov after 3500 miles oil level is just barely off the full mark. With the old valve it would be down 3/4 of a qt. Had a hard time getting the thing ,finally told them to give me one for a 03. The part number " 2001 HD" listed was on the plastic bag. I'm running M1 10w-30 oil. Good Luck with water leak.

Thanks !!   I will try to find the PCV valve.   As far as the leak goes,  I called the Ford dealer and told them about it and also told them that we would only buy it if they would fix the water leak problem. (we have not formally signed any papers on it until sometime today.  they let my son take it home over the weekend to check it out  and of course get him "hooked" on it)  The sales manager said the same thing about the glass, that it was probabaly the windshield and that they will pull it and re-seal it.  Of course I'm going to get this in writing!  Not that I don't trust them, but you gotta cover your #&s.  Let you all know what happens.
