Egr=a.i.r?

Im looking for headers for my truck and have become confused. Im looking at tog headers, does the regular model apply to the egr? Is the egr have to do with a.i.r? thanks

The EGR valve or exhaust gas recirculation valve ( ususlly one for each cylinder bank) is between the A.I.R. pump and the tubes that go into each header pipe at the head (i.e. 8 of them). If you live in California you need headers that are plumbed for the stock fittings. This may be a simplified explanation but I hope that it helps.

why would you want EGR without AIR?

Your truck most likely came with the A.I.R. pump and egr valves.

To keep it legal you need the A.I.R. and egr to hook back up.

(That is the case in California anyway.)

Do not disable the EGR or A.I.R on a computer run vehicle you won't like the results, could cause alot of errors and hurt the MPG.

ok so if you have a egr valve you most likely have a.i.r? I live in wisconsin and find it odd that i would a.i.r on my truck.

If you have tubes going into your stock manifolds..you have a.i.r. (Air Injection Reaction). Probably 99% shure you have this. Air is pumped into exhaust manifolds to lower oxides of nitrates and Hydrocarbons to help out the catalytic converter lower emissions down stream. Check out this link to help you out.

The EGR valve allows exhaust gases to be reburned in the intake manifold. This function only works when the engine is warm and at cruise speeds, and does not work at idle. If your EGR valve stickes open at idle , your engine will stuble and die. The EGR does not work in the AIR system. These are two different emission systems.

So then you cant have both, you either have a.i.r or you have egr. I checked mine out and I have a egr, but my question is that if you order heades without a.i.r will they have a place on them for the egr? thanks again

You most likely have both. They both are related to emissions.
