2002 on star wont work

I have the onstar on my 2002 suburban. I think it was built in 2001. The light for onstar is green which means it is working properly but it will not make calls it just keeps trying to. I do not have a subscription. I've tried in an open area

2002 may have an analog radio in it still which is no longer supported. OnStar's site has a list of supported vehicles if you poke around some.

Is there any way i can get a 2003 onstar module and pair it with my vehicle? I know 2003 trucks got RDS

OnStar is independent of RDS. It looks like any vehicle prior to 2008 will be a hit or miss sort of deal. They do supposedly offer digital upgrades to older vehicles but the links on the OS page are dead so who knows if they still exist. The easiest thing would likely be to order the OnStar FMV which is a self-contained unit.

You have analog as Mike mentioned. Even a 2003 module would do you no good. Digital equipment started in '05 or '06, IIRC. Onstar no longer communicates with analog. In fact most analog units should have been disconnected by dealers starting in '07 or '08. Owners received a letter requesting the vehicle be brought in. Reason why is Onstar will keep trying to "phone home" until your battery dies

Our 2002 Yukon had the analog unit which could not be upgraded. GM offered us $500 toward a new vehicle. However the Onstar was never disconnected and it did not run the battery down, it just quit working.

Okay thanks everyone. That is pretty disappointing. I dont think the stealership disabled mine
