Parking brake light

Light works fine when the parking brake is initially applied however when the truck is started with the brake already applied there is no light. Same result every time. Truck only has 1,600 miles on it. Any ideas? Don't really want to waste a few hours at the dealer just for that. Thanks in advance.

Haven't looked in the manual but I've never owned a vehicle where the light was not on when the brake was applied. When I put the truck in gear it doesn't change anything. Still no light.

Just to clarify, the light works fine unless the brake is already applied when the truck is started. So that tells me it's not a ground issue.

I have noticed a similar issue. When the truck sits overnight, the next morning the parking brake light is not on. But later in the day when I leave work, the light works. I am thinking it's a BCM issue.

If it were me, I would save it for when the truck is going in anyways if your time is that restrictive. I have taken a car in with three pages of issues just because they were fiddly trim, squeaks, oil leaks, and the final item that triggered the return, noisy diff after a summer of street racing in my 87 5.0 LX. Knew the one mechanic there, got the 3.55 gears installed instead of the OE3.08, plus the speedo drive gear off a Ranger truck, was the exact one I needed.
