transmission and related afm issues

This is probably old news but I have discovered on my 14 Silverado 5.3 that selecting M shift mode and using the + or - button to select any gear but 6 shuts off the 4 cylinder mode. Example: I select manual and toggle up to 5 before moving, The trans upshifts 1st thru 5 normally and downshifts normally, kickdown for passing is normal also. This keeps it in V8 mode and works for almost all driving. For freeway driving just toggle 6 and 4 cyl. mode returns. Toggling back to 5 or lower returns it to v8 mode seamlessly. I apologize if this is old news but I thought I would share it. FYI I purchased a Range device earlier and while it works fairly well there were a few minor hiccups such as stalling after fillups apparently due to the evap system self test process being interrupted. I ran in manual mode at times in my G8 and it didn't allow the V4 mode period.

Yep and when running at lower speeds in hilly areas, just manual to 4th and forget it, works great.
