I have a 02 GMC sierra 1500 with a 4.8 and when I check the oil it has two different levels if u pull the dipstick out check it then clean it and flip it over and put it back in and then check it again one way it says it almost a pint low the other way it says its full with the small differences on the front and back of the stick each time I check it . It just all of a sudden did it one day and I don't know wat one to go by when it says its full or low its only 1500 miles on the oil and it done it at about 1000 or 1200 miles

You could average the two. Read it the same way each time. The more times you check it consecutively, the more likely you're going to get false readings, 'cause you can pull oil into the dipstick tube and as the stick comes out it may contact the oil and give a false read. I just check it warm, one time and I'm done.

Just make sure the oil level stays in the cross-hatched area.

I think that's wat ima do is just do the difference between the two but I always keep oil between the marks in my vehicles I just got the truck in October of last year and this is my first GMC truck and this is the first vehicle that's done this to me
