Galaxy S4 Bluetooth phone call issues

I've noticed that my phone will connect via Bluetooth 100% of the time and Pandora will work perfectly (or as good as to be excepted). What I've just now noticed is that it doesn't connect with phone capabilities all the time. Out of maybe 10 connections made 1 -2 connections will actually display battery level and signal strength on the screen. When these items are being displayed I can make and receive phone calls with no issues. When I've noticed this isn't being displayed and I receive a phone call, nothing can be heard through the truck. The phone shows it is connected to the MyLink system but none of the Bluetooth phone capabilities work. Just yesterday my Wife and I were on a road trip and I received a phone call (none of the battery or signal indicators were shown) and the phone rang silently (normally plays through speakers when working properly), muted the Pandora we were listening too, but I couldn't answer it through the steering wheel. I had to press answer on the phone and nothing could be heard. I had to press the "headset swap" button to switch the call back to the phone from the Bluetooth connection it thought it was using. I am not sure if this is a phone issue or a MyLink issue, because the phone connects properly to the MyLink system and launches Pandora app properly but the truck seems to not recognize it is a phone as well as an audio source. Has anyone else experienced this issue with this phone or maybe another? Fixes?

When connected, in the bluetooth settings on the phone, make sure call audio and media audio are both checked. Sometimes the phone decides it doesn't want to connect with both for some reason.

This happens very rarely to me, and it's also happened with other bluetooth speaker/mics. I'd say I've had it happen 5 or 6 times over the last 8 months or so.

The other day when it actually connected correctly I went into the Bluetooth menu and noticed this. I will definitely confirm both are checked next time. Thanks for the reply!

Well this didn't fix it. The phone hasn't displayed the battery/signal indicators on the screen multiple times and every single time I've gone into the blue tooth menu and double checked and sure enough both options are checked and enabled. I've even tried unchecking the phone call audio option and re checking it with no resluts. Yesterday I deleted the phone from the trucks blue tooth menu and unpaired it in the phone. I then redid the whole pairing ordeal and since then it hasn't given me phone functionality one single time. My wife had the exact same phone as me so I guess I'll see if the issue persists on her device as well. Kind of losing my taste for this mylink system.

My Galaxy S4 does the same thing....weird things while connected to bluetooth. Music won't stream, calls won't pick up, etc...

I traded phones with my son and the HTC One doesn't have this problem. I blame the phone.

I called the MyLink infotainment support line yesterday and spoke with a guy who asked all the basics. He then said he needed to put me on hold and do some research on the matter. He came back on the line a few minutes later and told me that "GM is aware of the issue and has made a service bulletin for the Bluetooth/voice command problems. I will conference the dealer and give them all the info and the file for the update". I setup the appointment yesterday and had the update performed. So far so good (knock on wood). I've made three connections and every time so far it has connected perfectly. The guy said he couldn't give me the "campaign number" for the service bulletin, but I can tell you the dealer didn't know about it until they received the update/file from the support group. Might be worth looking into to get back the S4 since it is a better phone. I had the S4 and had issues, traded it for an HTC One and couldn't get past the inferior camera and idiosyncrasies so I traded it back for an S4 and couldn't be happier. Just my $.02 on the phones.
