day time running lights

It was either '95 or '96 when they did it.  The '96 K3500 we had came with them.  They may have been added at the same time the dash was changed.

My '95 does not have them, so it looks like '96 is the year for full-size and '90 in the compacts.

My '96 S-10 had them, but I took the fuse out because I didn't want them and the fuse only controlled them and fog lights.  And I didn't have fog lights I had tow hooks, so I removed it.

Hi Tom, I forgot about this site, and just reread a post on it, so I reregistered.

On the older trucks, you can put the parking brake in just one notch and the lights will go out, but the parking light will stay on.  The new trucks, if you push the brake in the light will blink, and eventually a bell start dinging.  Is there a fuse inside the truck?  Or just outside?

Just wait for the bulbs to burn out, they seem to go pretty quickly....I remember in late '98 when the new body style was first available, I had already seen some running around with one or more DRLs out.

They went out because the bulbs are cheapo overseas units that were probably given to gm.  My father had one go out a week after he got his new Silverado.  I replaced both with some Long Life Sylvanias, that appear brighter than the OEM versions.  BTW, they are 3157 if anyone wants to know...
