All-Terrian grill swap

I strategically placed the pins in the holes, used the adhesive to secure it, then put a clear all purpose adhesive in the two holes with the pins only.

 

I really think the adhesive would hold it just fine now, but I already had the grille out of the truck at the time I added the badge. So, for good measure I added the glue.

 

I know mine isn't going anywhere without a pry bar.

 

Make sure to leave the backing on the emblem, and place it in the grille until you figure out where you want to locate it. Just clean the surface with rubbing alcohol and dry before adding the emblem, and you should be fine. A small mirror and some small hands might let you get some adhesive on the pins through the openings in the grille, but I really do think it is overkill now.

Thanks for the reply. I put the emblem yesterday I just rub the alcohol in the grille and put the emblem using only the adhesive that come with it. I don't think go anywhere.

Looks great. I think I like it better than mine. I thought about using that spot, now I wish I would have. It gives a little separation from the chrome bar, and makes it stand out a little more in the black. When I did mine, it was totally out of the truck, you get a different perspective while in the truck. Those holes would be up one row and right one hole.

reviving this thread. i see the part number for z71 emblem. does someone have the part number for the AT grill and the painted surround? does the surround come painted in all the existing colors or do you have to take it somewhere to get painted? thanks,

Thanx for the whole write up! Really looks good in the chrome surrounding, I've never even got to see that much but figured it would look better than the original grill. I'll have to look into buying one now, which I'm sure I'll have to buy the whole thing and not just the insert.

 

 

Sorry the truck is dirty, but I got it done this evening. I think I like the painted surround better, but I will run with this for a while to see if it grows on me.

 

I set the original grille inside the painted surround, and I think it looks better than with the chrome surround as well. I set that configuration in the opening, but didn't bolt in in place. I'll post up a bunch of pics, so you can see the different combinations.

The grille(s) pics you put up are awesome and have definitely help make up my mind on a chrome outer trim with the all terrain grill as well as Z71 emblem! only problem is finding one?! by any chance you still have a part number for grille?

The grille number for the All Terrain grille with iridium painted surround was GM# 22910418, and the Z71 emblem was GM# 22432559 two years ago.

 

Since you already have the chrome surround, you might be able to just buy the inner part of the grille now? Wouldn't hurt to check with a body shop to see if it can be ordered that way now, it was only available as the complete grille and painted surround two years ago. I have heard that the complete grilles come with an unpainted surround now, and would have to be painted to match.

 

FYI, I have been running with the chrome surround, All Terrain inner grille with Z71 badge since May 2014. It has really grown on me, and is unique. Have not seen another one like it in two years.
