5.3 electric fan mod

Has anybody swapped out the belt driven fan for duel electric fans? Were the gains noticeable or could my time and money be better spent on other upgrades?

I have. It AC works better, not as noisy all the time, and runs a hair smoother

Can you post pics of it? Interested to see how it fits, looks and hooks up.

Just a tip from my experience, find used OEM Fans on craigslist, or at a junkyard. Don't waste your money on Dorman or other aftermarket replacements. I installed a set of dormans, and after blowing a couple 40a fuses, I put an ammeter on to find them pulling 70a at high speed. Check reviews on amazon and elsewhere, this is a common issue with the aftermarket offers.

I'm sure you've read that this swap will free up a ton of horsepower and increase your quality of life, but truthfully all you'll get is a quieter truck, better AC at idle, and maybe .5mpg in town.

Dont forget more working room at the front of the engine.

Roger that. Another thing to look at with the addition of the fans is an overdrive pulley for the alternator, helps stay on the positive side while idling with fans running. This isn't as much of an issue with z71 models, and other trucks with the big alternator.

Does your truck have a full sized jacuzzi?

No, but the 300 amp alternator allows better charging on night time road trips. I like doing most of my driving at night. Combine headlights, fog lights, aftermarket stereo, heater or AC on high, wipers, 2-3 phones charging, and a 500 watt power inverter running a laptop. Having all the excess power is nice

How much does one of those run? I'd like a 200A to replace my old OEM 145A to help with lighting at trail speed.

Ummmm there is an old saying "if you have to ask, you cant afford it". I think I paid $550 for it.
