92 k1500 problems

hi all, glad I found this forum.

just picked up a 92 k stepside. looking forward to tinkering on it and gleaning as much information as I can from here.

 

as far as issues goes, it's not running at all. battery dead, snapped serp belt, and a transmission problem.

figured I'd try to fix the tranny first, as that is what I have the least amount of familiarity with.

it won't shift into any gear, the guy I bought it from claims the clutch went and they popped it into neutral.

my plan of attack is to drop the tranny and inspect from there, but when I was underneath I noticed something off.

is this hole supposed to be here on the side of the bell housing?

That hole looks like it should be there but I won't know for sure until I look at mine. I'll check either tomorrow or the following day
