6" RCX lift, truck riding on Bump Stops

Hey guys, so I recently installed my 6 inch non-torsion drop rough country suspension lift kit in my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4.8L 4wd. The kit comes with many parts including 2 brackets that raise your bump stop to compensate for the 6 inches of lift and the new ride height. However, my truck is now riding on the bump stops with the kit installed. Unfortunately, I don't remember whether it was riding on bump stops with out the kit or not.

 

I even tried adjusting the torsion bars today to raise the front end; I got the adjuster bolt higher up on the one side, but when I tried to do the other side the bolt shot out of the block as I wore the threads right off it! (My bad, I should have had a C-Clamp on the torsion key to relieve some of the pressure as I tried to impact the bolt in). I guess Im going to have to get new adjuster blocks and bolts... But the one side that did run the bolt in is still riding on bump stops anyway, so I dont think that did a whole lot.

 

So is this normal? or should I be concerned? Should I get after market torsion keys to raise the front higher? If I am not mistaking this means that I currently have minimal suspension travel in the front end, and that to me sounds unhealthy.

They're elastomer springs, not just bump stops, that mimic a progressive rate spring. They smooth the ride out when touching, which is why most people with leveling kits notice a rougher ride.

 

Never use an impact on the key adjusters, and anytime you mess with the jack the front wheels off of the ground to relieve pressure.

X2. Get new parts, jack it up, adjust by hand.
