acid rain

I was at the local dealership the other day looking at new trucks and I found a sticker next to the window sticker that said "acid rain eats away the paint of vehicles ask about our acid rain protectant sealer."  I was wondering if anybody else in the northeast has found other GM dealers promoting this stuff and does this stuff actually work?

At first glance, I would like to say all these sealers and paint protection options are a rip-off.  I think even Consumer Reports sez they are.  But, I decided to do a search on GOOGLE and read the various links that are displayed which I have here.  You might read a few of these and draw your own conclusion.  For the most part, I think it is a joke, but then I wax my vehicles periodically.
