Question for lower version Dashboard owners

post-134143-0-69982100-1410541383.jpgOkay I have a 2014 Sierra doublecab 4 x4 , but it does not have the optional better dashboard features. So for mine I need to use the odometer button to go the limited screens I have. Question # 1, I assumed that my version would still have a light or some way of knowing when my engine is using four cylinders versus eight cylinders.........I see no such thing, I do have the ability to see my average gas mileage (and can chose between imperial or metric on another screen) but no indicator. Is there a way to know when I am using 4 cylinders?

Question number two ; One of the sad things about getting old is eyesight and I could not help but notice that many things are very small on this truck. For example the clock and temperature that is in the upper right corner of media screen........anyone figured out a way to increase the font size for these computer generated information screens?

I tried to download a pic of my truck but system won't let me download a 6mb pic, not sure how I reduce its size...... so trust me its a nice black truck :)

edit ......okay figured picture out

As far as I know your sol in both regards . For the lower versions you will never know if it's in v4 mode :( and the my link is nice sometimes lol but as far as customizing I'm pretty sure we can't

There is no indication of V8/V4 on the lower trim dash screen. As for the clock/temp I can't answer that one.

I have a tough time seeing the clock/temp display too, someone posted that if you hold the button in for a few seconds when turning the radio off then the clock display shows up much larger.

I tried it and it works as advertised, still can't read the darn temp though :)

No indication of the 4 cylinder mode on the base model display.

Thanks folks............up here in the north when driving on what could be black ice it is importnat to know if the temperature is above or below freezing...........so for me it is a safety feature that when font is so small is almost useless.
