Took my truck in for an oil change and some other stuff and they did a "speedo recall".

Anyway, I'm getting 2-3mpg better after I got my truck back. I'm def not complaining but I'd like to know if anyone else had this done and if they are seeing the same results. And now I'm wondering, which reading was correct?....before or after.

You're not getting any better mpg. All this update did was change the peak in ODO glitch that displayed different mileage when the key was out and you open the door.

Aight that's all it did... well my mpg went up immediately after this update. I drive 50+miles a day on the same roads in the same conditions and my total and instant has gone up. Like i said not complaining but I'll see if i get more to a tank in a few days when I run this tank down

This sounds like it has something to do with a similar problem I have noticed, intermittently, as well. I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about my instant MPG "bouncing" around every so often. One time I would start the truck, drive away and the instant mileage would be fine. Then seemingly randomly, another time it would bounce much higher and lower than the actual mileage. I have since noticed that there seems to be a correspondence, approx. 80% of the time, that if I start the truck with the driver's door open, the bouncing mileage usually occurs. If I start the truck with the door closed, after the "welcome screen" comes up on the touch screen, it seems to work OK most of the time. However, that brings up another issue - the welcome screen does not always activate - maybe only 50% of the time. Is there some further information on this update which is available, such as a PI#, recall identification, TSB#? Any help is always appreciated....Fondupot - you seem to have good info on this - any further details would be great.

Have you had this speedo recall done?

Mine is going in next Tues for an oil change, Tire rotation.

They will be doing the transfer case recall, side air bags, and the speedometer/odometer recall.

I have had no trouble with any of it, and I have been getting excellent mileage. I'm afraid that my mileage will go down like some others have mentioned. All these update/recalls/reflashes are not making me happy.

I just finished a 3,806.8 mile trip to the Rockies and back. I got 21.9 MPG overall, with some seriously high best last 25, 50, 400 mile readings coming down some of the 8-10% grades. Of course, I was only getting 13-14 MPG going up those grades as well. Quite accurate too, I might add. I hand calculated it at 21.723 MPG at the pumps overall, so only 0.177 or just 1-3/4 tenths error. I'm no math wizard, but I think that calculates out to roughly a 31 mile or 1.4 gallon margin of error for the 3800+ mile trip??

My best calculated tank was 26.1259 MPG overall, and that was in the Rockies, at elevation. My truck actually like the higher elevation, lighter air, tire pressure rose slightly, and was getting excellent mileage (22-23 MPG) even in V8 mode on the level at altitude. When in V4 mode, it would hold in the mid to high 30's, while only about 30-33 back home at 750" on the level. Ironically, my worst tank was 18.752 overall MPG from NE to WY. This was all on 87 octane with the exception of the one tank of 88, because 87 was not an option. Would have had to drop down to 85, and wanted to keep it as close as possible throughout.

I have been getting 21.5 to 22.5 overall MPG since day one here at 750' elevation, with the exception of winter blend gas and remote starts, but even then it is still 18 to 19 MPG overall in the dead of winter.

I would like for them to just leave it alone, but doubtful that will ever happen. Glad to hear yours went up, but I am not so sure I could be that lucky.

Is that hand calculated or according to the DIC? This reprogram will NOT affect your mileage. Seriously.

Both! 21.9 on the DIC, 21.723 hand calculated at the pumps overall. I kept the receipts and tracked the mileages. I can even break it down by tank, and town to town, state to state, MPH over the trip. This was at speeds ranging from 25 MPH in town, 45 MPH in some of the National Parks, and from 55 MPH to 80 MPH on the roads and Expressways/Freeways.

I apparently edited after your post, so there is some other information added. I said that 26.1259 was the best tank MPG I had, and it was over a 360.8 mile stretch through the Tetons, Yellowstone, and some white knuckle switchback driving at night in a thunderstorm, raining cats and dogs. Actually my best MPG was the last 6 miles from fill-up to home @ 27.1 MPG on the DIC.

I have some new bests from this trip, and they calculated out to be accurate within 2 tenths.

Well that certainly is great mileage. But it wont be affected by this update.
