Headlight won't shut off. 99 GMC

My headlights are always on. The manual override of pushing the dome light override button four times does nothing. I have changed the sensor in the dash. No change. I found a post about putting in a resistor. This does work. But still would like to know what is bad.

bcm would be my first choice or the relay has contacts stuck together

I could be mistaken, but I thought that you needed to barely push down on the parking brake while in park to override the auto headlights.

If the resistor worked then I doubt the BCM is the problem. I suspect your replacement sensor was a POS. If you want the schematics let me know.

For what it's worth I have read that the 99's did not have the ability to bypass the auto headlight feature.
