Tow Mirror Turn Signal

I added GM tow mirrors to my new 2015 Silverado. Original mirrors were heated with remote but no turn signal. Turn signals in mirrors do not work on new Tow Mirrors.

My old truck was a 2012 Silverado. I replaced the same type of mirrors (heated / remote / no turn signal) with the same type GM Tow Mirrors and the turn signals in the mirrors worked.

Anybody have any experience with this and tow mirrors?

Needs new door harnesses. The ones in there now most likely don't have a wire for the cavity in the plug to power the signal. GM has a document that shows what trucks, depending on where they are built and whether the harness has to be changed or not.

Or you could just run a wire yourself from the pin in the harness to a blinker wire somewhere under the dash. Can't tell you which ones as I don't have them. This is going to be my plan of attack though when the day comes as I don't have them factory either.

I replaced my non signal mirrors with dl3 mirrors (the regular sized mirrors with signals etc) and unfortunately had the same result as you.

Power adjust works fine in both mirrors but no turn signals... Looks like I'll be running some wires this afternoon.. Not looking forward to it.

Please let us know how the job went when you get done.

I wasn't able to work up the nerve to tackle that project this afternoon, but I will post what I come up with when I do.

Which tow mirror are you adding? One of the new style?

(there are 3 tow mirrors available for factory build on the 2015's -- availability depends on trim level it is being added to)

I added the black ones with remote, heat, and turn signal. My truck is a fairly plain 2015 Z71 4X4 LT CC with remote heated small mirrors without turn signals.

I added ones off eBay with the led and here are the wires that I used. I soldered and wrapped them in electrical tape instead of cutting through.

Along with the black wire for ground

These wires will turn them on with the interior lights so you can also dim them. I did not want them as blinkers so I did it this way.

I messaged GTPprix about programming the BCM to enable the functions of DL3 mirrors but have not heard back from him yet.

(I'll swap both harnesses in driver and pass doors along with the power fold switch in drivers side so hopefully all that needs to be done is programming)

If he's unable to do the programming I'll resort back to wiring them myself and I'll report back on my progress.

Anything sorted out on this yet for you?

No sir, unfortunately I never did get an answer back from GTPprix about the possibility of him reprogramming the BCM where the DL3 mirrors would function as they do from the factory.

And after looking at the (interior/cab side) wiring harness, I don't think I would ever go through the trouble to replace it.

I DO NOT KNOW if the interior harness would have to be replaced or not, but if so, I'm thinking it's not worth it.

If only the harnesses on either side going from the door jam into the door themselves needed to be replaced (along with the programming and mirror/power fold control panel in the drivers door) then I don't think that would be all that difficult and well worth the job being done correctly and everything functioning correctly (power fold, puddle lamps, turn signals, power adjust, etc.)

I just changed my factory mirrors on a 2016 1500 Silverado LS package to the bigger mirrors in order to see around my camper. The new, aftermarket mirrors have the turn signal. I am experiencing the same problem with them not working. I have read posts about flashing the computer which the dealership has to do. I am just curious if anyone else has found a fix for this. I thought I counted the same number of wires on both sides of the disconnect connector, although I didn't verify the connector pins aligned with all wires. The mirror has all the gadgets available in a full packaged truck, but I am only trying to use the blinker and electric adjust. no heater, no side alert, although the new mirror has all the features. Mirror is manual fold and manual extend.
