Heated seats?

Are after market heated seats more reliable than the GM ones? My parents have a 2012 Silverado with heated leather seats and it has failed for the second time in 1 year. Both times the front driver seat heater control module has failed.

 

I WAS going to put Katzkin leather and heaters in my truck, but after this, maybe I will skip the heaters?

Personally have never had a problem with GM heated seats.

Would imagine the installers selling the Katzkin leather will know a very reputable brand that will work reliably.

I have Check corporation brand heaters in my seats had both done for 350 I believe.... I haven't heard of an issue with the GM ones but the parts alone cost what I paid to have mine installed (I was going to do it myself but for that price...) and then you have to have GM program the truck for them to work......... The check heaters work well and the switch looks factory enough (Doesn't scream aftermarket just a nice small switch mounted on the side trim of the seats)

I have 08 with factory heated seats no problems so far and have approx 67K on the clock. I use mine frequently for my sore back as I drive, glad I have the option. I know that they are going to fail in the future and I will most likely get them repaired.

We had an 04 Yukon and had to have the heated switch in the driver side switch replaced and then the passenger side. We have an 08 Yukon and have had no problems with the heated seats, 60k miles now.

 

I agree 08 Black Max the heat is great for a sore back even in summer. I liked it so well, I got it in my '12 Sierra and use it all the time.
