E-cutout?

hey guys,

ready for exhaust on the truck. originally I was leaning towards muffler delete...I'm coming from high hp cars and hot rods, but this time around I'm keeping it much tamer,,, so my question is, has anybody ran a e cutout on these 14-15s? I'm thinking it would be the best of both worlds....no worries over v4 drone on Highway, but a solid exhaust note around town..

let me know what you think...

Just in front of stock muffler, bypassing muffler, adaptive valve and resonator...

If u dump it right there, the drone is HORRENDOUS.

Really? That sucks to hear...

I dropped the cat back off for a week just to play around. I'm a muscle car guy myself (favorite toy has nothing but a set of headers and a Y pipe) and there's no way in h*** I could live with it. About lost my hearing.

If you piped it out the back you maaaay get away with it. But then you'd basically have a muffler delete.

What about this... Lose the resonator and throw a cutout on after the muffler/adaptive valve? I'd keep the tail pipe in factory location for when cutout is closed

What Jay said. Just a muffler delete is seriously MUCH quieter than you'd expect. Bypassing the resonator will only change the tone for the worse IMO, and won't do much if anything for volume. And bypassing the muffler where it is is a drone making machine. I went through the same process as you. I decided to give the muff delete a shot. Cheap and easy. Loved it. Then I cut off the cat back, moved the resonator and flapper to where the muff was, added a Y, and went duals over the rear axle. Perfect for me!

OK... Sounds great guys.. I was only trying to avoid the loud an obnoxious exhaust notes of the past gen 3/4 ls motors, but if the muffler delete is civil I'll go that route..

It will surprise you nicely. Nice throaty sound at idle and cruise, wakes up when u get on it. I'd recommend leaving the flapper in.

Yes leave the flapper just cut out the muffler then put a 3 inch pipe in place of muffler. Once you do that go for a drive and think of all the money we just saved you don't forget too thank us later :). No way is it loud just a perfect rumble ever so slight.

Nice! Plan on keeping the flapper, actually have it clamped open right now... Guess I'll need to unclamp it afterwards? And I'll be sure to thank you guys for the saved coin.

I prefer mine unclamped, but that's the beauty of leaving it in. You can run either way to your liking!
