Lowering 1500HD

Has anyone lowered a 2002 1500HD? My wife and I have some physical limitations that make it difficult to climb in this truck even with nerf bars. I need the towing capacity as I tow about 9500 lbs. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :nono:  :)

Ahhhh, 2WD.....much easier :D  I don't know what exactly your phyiscal limitations are but I have a silverado that has been dropped 2" in the front and 4" in the rear which made it much easier to get into. Instead of "climbing in" you "drop" in.

A 2/4 drop might be enough for you or you  may want to go with a 4/6. It's best you should try to find a dealer who has a truck that has been lowered to see what drop you need. Or make small talk with someone who has a lowered Chevy at the gas station and ask to sit in it. He might give you an awkward look so maybe not.

Considering you want to tow, a 4/6 might not work. I could be wrong but a truck that low seems it would be scraping with that much weight so a 2/4 drop seems feasable.

Cost? With a 2/4 without notching runs from $650 to $900 installed. A 4/6 with notching (which you'll need) I dunno? 800? to 1200? installed
