Buy the plane ticket and I'm there :D

Likewise!!!!

Knee-jerk reaction here would be to kill power to both the broadband device and the router.  Then try surfing after a couple of minutes of restored power.

Second thing I would try would be to see if you can crawl inside of the router via http://192.168.1.1?  If you can then you are communicating from the computer to the Linksys.  I then go into the STATUS tab and see if you are connected to your ISP.  If it sez "disconnected", or "connecting", and it keeps trying repeatedly, then you probably have a temporary problem with your ISP.

If your wireless cannot see the router, and assuming that your hardware is working, I would check for interference.  Baby monitors, cordless phone, any device that communicates at 2.4 ghz.

Anyway, those are the steps I would take.

hmmmmm.

Your linksys uplink interface needs an IP from your ISP.

Then you need to config your internal IP, usally default is fine 192.168.1.1

Give your laptop an IP address of 192.168.1.2

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway of 192.168.1.1

Now go into the properties of your wireless card and make sure your on the same channel as the router, If you havn't checked it on your router its default is channel 6.

Next make sure your EESID is the same on the router and your wireless card, default is "linksys" this is all on the card propirties page.

gotto Start > run type "command' and hit enter, a dos window will open up, type "ping 192.168.1.1" hit enter.

You should get a respocne, if not check your settings again.

If you get a responce your internal part is good.

next do the start, run command again, and ping yout ISP assigned IP, if you get a respoce then your all set.

let me know if I can be anymore help.

Well the knee jerk reaction seemed to work. it took too attempts but now we are connected. We have no dsl providers and no cable providers in this neighborhood yet so the last and only chance to get broadband was a wireless provider. Have been useing them for about a year and only a couple of problems which they cleared up quickly. I discovered that there is a small DLink base unit connected between the router and the antenna on the roof. it is a 15 V. unit. I unplugged it and the router and turned off the computer. Then re started it all in reverse order. on the second try i got a connection for a short time so I tried it again with a longer pause between the powering up of each unit. after a couple minutes the connection was back. Thank God. Poor Batgirl has been climbing the walls without her computer connected to the web. I'm gonna be the hero tonight. She gets home from work soon and I know she will thank you all as I just have.

You guys are smart. Thanks Larry ,Nonstop and Chevy4x4. By the way Chevy 4x4 it looks like rain tomorrow not a good time for a visit to California.

Well, I'm glad everything is back and running.  These routers are computers in their own right and sometimes just need to be rebooted, after going through their own "crash".

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
