2001 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 pitman arm

Hey all. Quick question about a pitman arm for my truck. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 and it needs a new pitman arm. Im going to go ahead and replace it with a moog but my question is, how do I know what spine it is before I take everything off? I want to order it online due to its cheaper price, but I dont want to accidently order the wrong one.

Ha! I went through this on my 03 2500hd... I ended up forgetting about saving a few bucks and bought them both locally so I could take one back. Worked out ok, costed me about 10 bucks more that way but it was done.. You "should" be able to back the nut off completely and see the splines in order to see which one you need too. Mine was the common one.

Call the dealer with a vin and get correct part number and then cross reference it.
