extensive wreck update

my "unsafe lane change" that made me go to court cost me 90 bucks, 50 fine/40 court fees. I pled no contest, and tunrs out the judge waived the $25 additional wreck fine. not bad, I talked to a guy in my math calss whose unsafe lane change was 90 bucks, W/O court.

Truck:

I'm keeping the truck after everything I'll get 2400 back. It'll cost 2000 to get it fixed at a show car making body shop, they will "work" the bed instead of replacing it(nice word for bondo and dent removal)

I have to keep it, cause my dad wants if even if I don't. Good part, the title will still be "clear" (and this is the second time it's been totaled sionce its been in the family!!!) My dad wants to do what we did before, fix it and keep going.

Me:

well, cars are still calling my name. my dad is sick of crawling in and out of his 325is, and is wanting to sell it, hoping he can get a post office closer to home(he's postmaster 75 miles away, when he's at his office, drives 140 miles a day on curvy country  roads in great condition, explains why he had an E30 BMW, reliable, great suspension, and plenty of power for 2700 pounds of car). He wants a good running truck(more room inside now.

well, he'll pay the diff between me giveing the ins company the car and me keeping it(1651 salave bid), and keep the truck, all mods intact. He knows I could get between 2500-3000 out of it wrecked, and said don't let him stop me from selling it for that. I'd like to see it saty in the family if I don't keep it, and I could just buy his BMW. the BMW's 209 K dosen't bother me, I know were that car stands on maintaince(if properly maintained, as reliable as a chevy small block V8), and the engine and I think trans only has 70K on it. IT has new brakes all around, 30K left on the tires, less than 3K on timing belt, new front shocks, and all synthetics(trans, engine, diff) put in when right when he bought it(24K ago). only problem is a power steering leak, just like a $10, 15 min fix.I've driven the car daily for a week now, and like it more every day.

So here is my stance, if you think you can take a neutral positsion, I'd really appreciate your opinions:

If I get:

BMW:

-I will have around 1000 dollars spare:

+'s: awesome gas milage, only $20 to fill up every 350 city miles at 1.60 a gallon

-quicker

-faster

-better sportier suspension

-nice, white paint, factory BBS wheels

-looks/drives more like a 100K car than a 200K car

-the key to it running good is driving it HARD(seriously, providing good maintaince, that's how Bimmers are)

-its stock, I can start modding from scratch, which is a lot of fun to me

the Truck:

will have $400 left after repairs, with a $200 trans service due in 2000 miles)

+'s over BMW:

-CD player w/Infinity speaker(yet, the factory 1987 BMW  Premium setup still sounds better, I feel ripped off in the truck)

-sweetest exhaust

From your list of +'s ... there's more reasons to go with the BMW.  It sounds like it's what you want to do.  It also sounds like you want your father to have your truck.  Go for it.  get the beemer.  As long as your father lets you drive 'his' truck, you've got the best of both worlds.

Go with the BMW, go through the modding process again, and enjoy that car for awhile. Pretty soon you will probably be back in a situation where you could get a truck, and then when/if you do, you will feel that much more excited about it.

Whatever happens, enjoy.
