Kelyless fob not working

Recommended Posts

Recently my fob quit working. I heard some rattling inside the case, and when I opened it up I discovered that the bracket that retains the battery has come loose. Since it was soldered in place by 3 tabs, I got my soldering iron and fixed it. It worked great for a couple of days, but now it is not working again. I've tried different batteries to make sure it wasn't just the battery.

What I have noticed is the clip for the battery actually touches the circuit board, and previously it was elevated so that the only point of contact was the 3 pins. Could this be the problem? Have I shorted out the circuit, and caused irreversible damage?

I'd post a picture if I knew how....

Its possible. Usually soldering them does work for a short bit and thats about it. Replacement of the fob is about the only thing to fix it unfortunately.
