Tailgate Seal

Could you take pictures of what you did on the tailgate? I do a lot of hunting that involves a lot of gravel travel.

I caulked the front panel gap.

 

My seal kit is the "Total Bed Seal" kit with foam blocks which I installed. The seal for the tailgate appears to be different in this kit than that shown in their video installation on a GM truck. http://www.accesscover.com/accessories-videos/#lightboxMedia

My kit has a seal that looks like an "L" shape. The video for the GM tailgate installation shows what looks like a bulb seal they install in a straight line, below where the bed corregations end. This "L" shaped seal is shown in their website pictures as following the jogs of the corregations, as I have installed in my pictures.

 

Then the sides in the "Total Bed Seal" kit have the bulb style seal .

 

The problem area is the top where the bed diverges away from the shape of the tailgate. You have to add the extra angled seal to the tailgate and I had to fill the gap with another piece of seal on the bed side of the seal area. It still has a small gap that I'm going to seal with something.

 

I don't think you can get them 100% sealed, but you can get it pretty close as I did with my 2008 and this same seal kit.

You still need to seal the 8 large holes under the bed rails.
