Dead Battery on my 06; any issues if I wait to replace?

Came home from Christmas and the factory battery in my 06 Sierra is dead. Its died before but its time to replace it; its been extremely cold already and winter has barely started here in Pittsburgh so time to replace. I am unsure how long it has been dead but I last drove it maybe 8-9 days ago. Might be another 3 days till I have time to pick a new one up. Will this have any effect on the security system or anything else? Should I jump it today and keep it going till I replace the battery? Problem is I like Deka Batteries but have to take the old one in for exchange and the battery will be out of the truck for 2-3 days before I can get the new one in. Deka is on the way to my New Years vacation for a few days so can't get back for 2-3 days. Is that ok to leave the battery out for that long???

I just had my battery out and disconnected for literally 4 months. It won't hurt a thing. My truck is an 04.

Great! I don't know where I heard someone say if you take the battery out you can mess up the alarm and other crap...so it made me wonder; can't imagine how that would happen but who knows. Thanks

No problem, glad to help! I just thought about the radio lockout code. If your truck has an anti theft radio then unplugged battery/dead battery may lock it out and you'll need the code to get back into it. Code should be in the manual if it needs a code.

My truck is an SLT and has factory bose sound in it and it didn't have a lockout code. So yours may or may not. Worst comes to worst, take it into the dealer after replacement and if you can prove ownership then they can unlock it.

A weak battery will cause problems. My on-star was throwing error codes. They could not diagnose it, and said bring it in to the dealer; which I never did. 2 weeks later I replaced the battery, and the on-star problems went away.
