Disabling auto on/off headlights 100% on an 01

I know about the dome over ride switch hitting it a few times to temporarily turn off the lights, but I want 100% control over turning them off & on with the headlight switch when I want them on. What can I do or what needs to be done?

Went to radio shack and bought the $1.49 resistor.

I didn't cut any wires just pushed it in the back side of the plug and taped it.

It seems to work. Well see what happens over time.
