drhoward1988 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 So it's been a while since I've posted, or done any major work to the truck. Besides routine maintenance I did upgrade the main wiring on the battery and added a negative side wire to frame ground. I've been having a slight issue with the rear drums locking up after sitting I need to look into a bit more. Hopfully I can get the truck painted by fall. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
drhoward1988 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Well some work today. Been having a brake issue. Leaking rear hub seal. Figured I'd paint the drums and clean it up a little. Also replaced both sides u bolts and top/lower plates. Odd to have very rusted parts here Alabama. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
j-ten-ner Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Geez...it was about time to replace the U-bolts . so long j-ten-ner
drhoward1988 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Well I replaced the hub seal today. Pretty simple job. Got the drums cleaned out and adjusted in. Also got the parking brake working properly on both sides. Where the passanger side ebrake cable runs into the equalizer bracket was loose. Will take it for a drive tomorrow and retighten the new ubolts.
drhoward1988 Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 Some work today. Replaced my bad harmonic balancer and plugs and wires. I originally did a tune up upon purchase, but I used NGK plugs. Guy at the part house mixed up part numbers and gave me colder plugs, which don't work well with my low compression 350. Changed back to AC Delco and new taylor wires. The new harmonic balancer is just a summit brand. Painted it and white the timing marks

Robert.jean1 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Seems to be coming along nicely. Looking forward to watching it return to its former glory
drhoward1988 Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Seems to be coming along nicely. Looking forward to watching it return to its former gloryThanks. It'll be there one day. Next I'm doing some shorty headers to replace the cracked manifolds and install an 02 sensor. Going from the old 2 wire to the heated 3 wire Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
drhoward1988 Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 Well not much going on lately. I've got to replace the clutch, once it heats up it gets hard to shift (throw out bearing). Still haven't got the headers on. I got them ceramic coated and baked. Just need some time to work on a few things Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
drhoward1988 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Discovered a minor setback. Was doing some work on the transmission and discovered someone has swapped a NV3500 in place of the nv4500. It is what it is. I'll be searching for a 4500 now. The 3500 just won't cut it for the heavy towing I'll be doing. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
drhoward1988 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Ok. It's been a while. So I've done some work and tinkering. Got my headers baked and installed, what a pain. Wired in a 3 wire O2 sensor as well. Reset my ECU and walla no more check engine light. Still have lots to do with paint and body but it's starting to come together. drhoward1988 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Some update: found a NV4500 trans compete with bellhousing and new clutch. It's from a 98 so I'll replace the slave for piece of mind. Gonna go pick it up next week. Waiting for warmer temp to paint. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
drhoward1988 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Picked up the trans. Guy had took the shift cover off and couldn't get it back on. Got it squared away. 5th gear looked good and actually looks as if it's been rebuilt recently.
