2015 Silverado Transmission Failure/Lemon

Its under warranty. I'd have absolutely 100% no issues with them dropping in a new transmission at all. If anything them taking back the old one will only help them to further make sure that failures don't happen again.

I don't think you have a lemon (if you have only taken it back once for this issue then for sure no lemon law) and maybe just a lemon part. I'd say let them fix it.

Getting a new transmission without any fight is a lot better than living with bad vibration problems that are never solved. How do you know that the new truck, if they gave you one, would be perfect? I know that this is disappointing, but before you bought that truck, you could have done some research and paid attention to people who posted hundreds of cases indicating shoddy workmanship and horrible quality control at GM. That's what internet is for.

If you dig around here, you'll see that there are several people that have had transmission issues and were frustrated by it.

From my point of view, which is a view that includes my own 8speed transmission issues I am trying to have solved, you had a complex part designed by people, built by people and installed by people fail. A single failure is hardly a lemon.

We all expect a vehicle to roll off the line with zero failures, but that is not reasonable expectation. Not even my coworkers with Porsches and Ferraris that spent a lot more than we did have that expectation.

You're jumping the gun on lemon law crap I think , a lot of documentation is required for that .

I would make sure you're getting a "new" assembly line transmission and not a SRTA, Service Replacemnt Transmission Assembly . Which is a rebuilt unit from GM , they have a 3 yr warranty but not in your case as your power train warranty is more than that.

Do you think he has a choice? Why would a "new" transmission be any better than a rebuilt one? What if the same worker who assembled the one in his truck assembled the one he is going to get? Maybe they have a more competent outfit rebuilding the transmissions here in the US, than that assembling the new ones somewhere in a third world country.

Toledo, Ohio is third world?

I've heard of them pulling parts of the line before ,

With the low miles on his truck I'd want a new transmission not rebuilt unit

I have a 2015i Silverado 2500HD with 4000 miles on it and transmission is toast. Truck was broken in properly and only towed TT twice which only weighs 7000lbs. Dealer is supposed to be installing in a new tranny but how would I know anyway if they install a remanufactured one instead. If it happens again I am going back to Toyota. I owned two of them and they pulled like crazy. went to chevy 2500 because I was wanting to get a fifth wheel which has more pin weight on rear of truck. Don't know what I will do now. Crossing fingers at this point. When you buy a truck for towing, the tranny should be one of the strongest links in the chain.

Crap happens and every manufacturer has a small percentage that have an engine or transmission failure within the firs few thousand miles. I had a ford 250 work truck that the transmission literally fell out of the truck when I pulled out of the dealership. Had a buddy a few years back that had an engine failure at 500 miles on a Tundra. It happens but it just really sucks when it happens to you.
