2011 Sierra Lifter noise (Old news)

Dealership did the lifters on my truck and it was awesome. No more noise. Now it is starting to come back. I just wanted to see how many of you guys had lifters replaced and if the noise came back for you?

 

If I would have known gm's 5.3L AFM engine was such garbage I wouldn't have bought this thing lol

 

I will be bringing it back to the dealership in a couple of days so the shop foreman can have a listen and advise me on the next step.

 

I wish they would just put a 6.2L in for me

Are you still under warranty? I have the same issue, cam shaft, lifters, rings, etc. motor completely rebuilt instead of just installing a new motor. Not more than 4000 miles later I can feel the truck starting to repeat same symptoms. Currently trying to trade it in since GM is not willing to stand behind their product. Beyond disappointing. I did make a claim with GM asking for trade in assistance on a new vehicle, but I don't have confidence that they'll offer enough, if any, to make a new truck affordable.

Guys, you HAVE to disable AFM or this will happen again and again. Experience of thousands of us has proven that you could put in a brand new AFM motor and it will be gunked up and need to be re-ringed in a few thousand miles, if you don't turn off the AFM function!

Afm was disabled after the lifters were done and the noise still came back.

Also the shop Foreman listened to it and wanted me to leave it with him so he can cold start it. Waiting to hear back from them
