My new Tahoe doesn't really gert that cold in the front.  The rear feels like it is really cold.  How does the system work?  Is it dual Zones with different systems?  Or does it all run off of the same compressor  And Coolant system.  The front really does nothing.  Granted it isn't really warm here yet but I wanted to test it out.  The Compressor still kicks in so do All I need is a recharge?  I would like to hear what you have to say.  Also can you explain the system operation?  Thanks a bunch.

If you have front and rear air, then there are probably seperate controls for the rear.  There is only one compressor, but there is a seperate condensor or evaporator in the rear behind the wheel well on the passanger side.

I don't understand why the rear would blow cold and the front not work correctly, unless the temp blend control isn't working right for the front.  the only other thing, is that if the truck is sitting in the sun, and the dash gets warm, it takes awhile to get all the duct work cooled down.

That's ok, the AC in my 97 doesn't work very good either.  On full blast it feels like a little trickle of air coming out and it's not very cold.  I might as well leave the windows down!

The heater on the other hand.....get's extremely hot and I can leave it on the first setting to get enough air.

Go figure.

I have a similar problem on my wife's 02 tahoe. The front blows semi-cool while the back is cold as ice. I've checked all the little actuators that control the blend doors (for heat and a/c) and they're all working. The system reads to have enough freon in it. I'm open to just about any suggestions. The next things I can think of is to change the controls on the dash or dimantle the dash to get to the evaporator. Anyone out there have any suggestions???? :)
