Truck moving when in park and turned off?

I'd bet its a matter of your vehicle being parked on an incline and sliding on ice once the temperature drops especially after light rain, i.e. black ice. you didn't post your location but did mention both snow and rain. parking brakes won't help in such situations.

 

Living in Alaska, its a common thing here to find an unattended vehicle has moved when left parked on an incline with freezing rain conditions unless you have studded tires,

I live in northern New Jersey but it was strange because the incline was very minimal.

clearly your area is having an abnormal winter, which would lead to abnormal circumstances. that said from what you've explained I for one think its highly unlikely your truck's transmission is slipping in such a manner otherwise it would be much more noticeable and continuing to act in such a manner. my bet is still on it having been ice and that your tire treads were packed with snow/ice that was frozen.

 

I state all this as just this past week we found my wife's land rover across the street one morning. she had parked next to the garage yet due to ice it apparently had slowly slid down our inclined driveway about 40-feet out and and into the street during the night. luckily we live in a private dead-end street (cul-de-sac) where this is little traffic other than our fellow homeowners. Her LR does not have studded tires on.

Okay thank you very much for all the responses it has been very helpful with the abundant amount of information that I received today, and that is why I love this forum. I think it was the snow and ice but I am definitely going to have the dealer check out the recall on it.

Hey guys I experienced this a couple of times over the past month. Really weird. Put it in park, turn off the key, foot off the brake, 10 seconds later it moves forward a couple of inches. Kind of freaky.
