I want to remove the Chrome trim on doors of 2014 Sierra SLT. Any advice/ experience doing so?

I removed the trim from my all terrain. I heated it up with a blow dryer and used fishing line to cut between the glue on the back. Took like 10 min. Afterwards clean up with sone kind of goo gone.

had mine done in the body shop at the dealership I work at, they headed up and pulled it off, then used an eraser wheel to remove the adhesive left behind. then buffed the area it took about a day or two in the sun before you couldn't notice where it was. looks great now very happy.

I'm pretty sure they used something like fishing line to cut through the adhesive.

First take a heat gun and heat the molding. Use a small screw driver and catch one end to get it pulled away from the body. Once you get one end of the molding loose gently start to pull it off. When you get to the other end of the molding be careful not to scratch the truck. If you reheat the end you can pull the molding with a sliding motion parallel to the truck so it doesn't dig into the paint.

Now you are left with a black adhesive strip. Reheat the whole strip. Peel one end away from the body and stretch it away from its self as you pull. If it snaps in short strips then it is not hot enough. It will come off and you won't need any cleaners or need to buff.

do not use screw driver unless you want to take a chance in damaging your paint. use a fishing line to cut through the 3m tape once you cut through all of it the trim will fall off. then use the 3m eraser wheel (first link) to take 99% of the glue off the truck. do not over think it, it will not burn or damage your paint I promise, I worried about that too but it worked awesome. then once the glue is off go back with some goo gone and get the rest of the residue that the 3m wheel does not get. get some detailer spray of your choice, wipe down, clay bar, then wax / seal the paint and you are good to go! the second link is a you tube video on how the eraser wheel works. it took me about 30 min to pull mine off, without it, it would have taken at least 3 hours.
