02 headlights will not turn off manually

My 02 2500HD headlights will not turn off manually like my old 02 1500. They work automatically. The manual says to push the interior light button 3-4 times, just like my old one. (Rare poster that read manual & searched site) I tried pushing the parking brake down a bit, but that did not turn them off. I bought the truck about 6 months ago & they will not turn off manually since I got it.

My 05 switch just turns to the left to turn them off. Easy. Why did they complicate it on the earlier models.

Has anyone else had the "off" function stop working?

Will an 05 switch work in its place? That would certainly be better.

Right when u start the truck leave the button in the off position, if the lamps come on hit the button fast 5 times see what it does

No an 05 will not work only 99 NBS- 02 i believe

Might be a bad switch

I know the dome override switches on the 01 02 style were always pretty shoddy, might need to replace the switch
