After only having this 01 2500 Burb for a week I have:

Replaced all the door speakers

Installed a brake controller

Fixed the wiper reservoir

Identified the oil leak(cooler gasket)

Fixed the ground ABS/Brake problem

And many thanks to the feedback provided.

Now off to do something fun, basically what I bought this thing to do, tow my race car!

So this is a Factory Five Racing 818R. The concept is like most of the other FFR cars, take a donor, and turn it into something fun. The 818R is 02-07 Scooby Doo Impreza based. That said, you can go with a 2.0L naturally aspirated donor, all the way to a 2.5L turbo WRX donor. And then you can take the motor all the way up to over 400HP in race trim. I have the 06 2.5L turbo motor, and with a little race tune it puts out 290HP with 320FLB torque. The car is called an 818 because it weighs 818 kilos, or 1600lb.

Basically the way it works, is you order the kit and buy a donor. In my case a bought a suitable wrecked donor off copart.com. You take the motor, wire harness, tranny, drivetrain, seats, and a bunch of other pieces off the donor. then you put them on the kit and assemble the rest. the body is gelcoat fiberglass, and you can leave it white or red on the newer ones, or paint it as exotic as you want.

I have the "R" version, so mine is track only, and has a nascar style cage and roll bar. It also has race components, like a Kirkey seat, track height suspension, and no wire harness, lights, carpet, or second seat.

It is A LOT of fun, can be borderline challenging/frustrating from a build and fabrication perspective. Yet it is incredibly rewarding and a sense of accomplishment.like no other.

There are lots of info and pictures on my blog.

The most rewarding builds I have seen are all of the Father/Son projects. So if you are looking for something to bond with a family member like a son or brother, is is it.

COOL! I'm familiar with FFR and I've seen the 818... just couldn't tell what it was from the perspective of the video.

Mostly I've been focused on their cobra replicas.

That must be a total blast to drive!

It is a blast to drive. I had a Cobra as well, a MK1.5 FFR. It was also fun and rewarding to have. Someone up your way owns it now, maybe Harrison TN. It was burple with silver stripes.

There's a fella in my neighborhood that has one... Classic blue with white stripes, 427 side-oiler...

...Sigh... maybe one of these days I'll have one.
