Bluetooth Issues

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but from time to time I have an issue with my Bluetooth system. My phone will connect to Bluetooth but when I go to use it the call connects to Bluetooth and you can hear the click on the stereo but then the radio plays super loud. The phone goes through on the phone but I cannot hear anything. They can hear me but all that I hear is my radio super loud. Any thoughts?

Hi, I have a 2013 GMC Sierra that has a similar problem with a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone with Android 4.4.2.

About 1 yr ago, I had setup my phone to use "Google voice from any screen" setting to activate "Ok Google" while driving. My phone before this setup worked no issues with Android 4.4.0. After the setup and upgrade from 4.4.0 to 4.4.2, my phone would Bluetooth pair ok and make one call using the truck hands free system. a second call, I would experience the same as you without loud radio where I can hear the call go through but not able to hear the other caller. Repeated call attempts the same. The only remedy was to turn off my phone and power back up to make one call with repeated results, basically, my truck hands free was down. It was not until this past January, I took my truck into the dealer, they checked my radio software version and found that other Android phones repeated the failure and some Apple phones did not and worked fine. In other words, they did the very least to help and asked me to call the GM Infotainment center which truly wasted my time in endless rerouting of my call. In Feb, I had my own idea to deactivate the "Ok Google" voice command setting on any screen option... solved the one only call issue. What gets to me is that if your phone is not listed on the GM smartphone compatible list they have, don't hope for a real fix. I was told by GM that with the number and different brands of phones on the market, they can not keep up with new 2013 radio software updates and they asked me to contact Samsung to resolve. Uh no GM, when you release a system to the customer with a Supplier partnership, it is YOUR job to contact YOUR supplier and stop using me the customer to find YOUR software bugs... bad way to build customer relationships.

^^^^^^^ Both issues are due to your PHONES not the truck. If your phone is staying connected via bluetooth after the first call, but when a 2nd call comes in it is not playing through the radio it is MOST LIEKLY because your phone is not selecting the bluetooth connection as the call audio, I bet you it is defaulting to the handset. Try picking up your phone and talking, I bet that is what is happening.

FYI get an iPhone and all your issues will go away.
