have a 2014 5.3 3.42 with trailer brakes

currently towing 5000 lbs no problem

does any one have experience towing of 8100 lb travel trailer

that is the dry wieght

I also have a '14 5.3 3.42 and while I don't own a travel trailer I do have occasion to tow a 20' equipment trailer that when loaded runs right around 8k. Truck handles it fine, although on a personal level that is about the max I think I really want to tow with my 1/2 ton. YMMV, and I know there are others who tow heavier with these trucks with absolutely no reported issues.

 

As I said above, I don't have a travel trailer but I would think it might be possible that trailer might be a bit heavy and may not leave you much in the way of being able to haul people/cargo/supplies/etc when you consider what these trucks are rated to tow. Then again it might be fine if its just yourself and you travel light. In any case there are plenty of discussions on this forum and others about trailer weight vs. max tow capacity. Just an FYI they can blossom into large debates. Best of luck finding a trailer that meets your needs. Hopefully one day the wife and I can get one ourselves.
