Rear blocks

Hey fellas. Was gonna get the zone 4.5 for my '14 sierra sle. I got 17x9 fuel hostage wheels right now (17s because I like more tire than wheel) and 33x12.50 dick cepek mud country. Anyhow, I'm wondering about the 4" block they send with the kit. I hear horror stories about axle wrap. How big of a block can you get away with before axle wrap happens? I was looking at replacing the blocks with skyjacker 5" leaf packs. Which will also add some rake. Will the leaf packs prevent axle wrap?

I never liked lift blocks, especially when it started to get above 3". I mean think of it like if you laid down on 8"x8" concrete blocks and how your body will want to curve the wrong way. I would spend the extra money for lift leaf springs like you mentioned, but if you're going to get Skyjacker rear leafs you might as well get the whole lift from them. If I ever do lift this truck (if I do it will be way down the road when it gets old) I would probably get a BDS lift with lift leaf springs for the rear. These trucks come stock with a 1" block on the rear which I don't like but it's not a big deal. You will have axle wrap either way, especially with a lift, but I believe lift springs would help a lot better than factory leafs with blocks. If you want to help even more then get traction bars, but traction bars also limit axle articulation which you want if you go off-road. So you either have less axle wrap but less axle movement for off-road, or deal with axle wrap for the street so you can have more axle movement for off-road. Plus traction bars doesn't help with ground clearance.

Sounds like no matter what there's gonna be problems. It gets pretty rocky where I hunt but it's not crazy and I don't drive like a maniac through it. But I the reason I was thinking about the leaf springs from skyjacker I can get just them and still pay less than the skyjacker lift and get zone. I like the stance of the zone. I mostly do street driving. And I only drive 10 minutes to work. So I believe I'm gonna get the leaf springs and just try to lessen the problems.

Thanks for the thorough response by the way man

I am pretty sure BDS offers lift springs for their 4 inch lift. It may be more money than zone, but at least it would be complete kit from one manufacturer.

Yes they offer lift leaf springs for their 4" kit. BDS actually is very well priced, especially for the quality of their products.
