2004 Silverado recomended after market stereo

Does anyone have a stereo to recommend as a replacement?

My original CD/radio bit the dust almost, anyway the CD player has. I will pull it out and play with it, but don't expect to be able to repair it. I would like to have a stereo picked out ahead of time to order. The problem I have is that various suppliers have conflicting recommendations. My unit looks like a 2Din but Crutchfield lists only 1din for this model truck. Other suppliers list 2din. While I am sure that a 1din can be made to fit with an adapter, is there really a problem of putting in a 2din. In a way, I would like all the new bells and whistles (navigation, bluetooth phone, CD or DVD, digital input, etc) but want at least the original features (CD & radio) I don't want a lot of unnecessary graphics going on that will distract the driver and I don't want to have to pull out the manual to do simple items.

As far as I can tell, I don't think I will need to replace the speakers.

I used to install car audio for a living. I am out of the buisness but I usually throw a pioneer unit in any of my vehicles. I have this one in my truck currently ( http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Touchscreen-Receiver-Wireless-Fresheners/dp/B00HX4A48Y) and I love it. I can hook my iPhone or iPod to it and Pandora seamlessly. There is an option to make a plain background that isn't distracting as well as more interactive screens. They have other models that have gps and such but I use my phone for most of that. When its plugged in it plays over the vehicles speakers.Get a dash mount for your phone so you can view it while driving and you're all set. I would stay away from Crutchfield solely because they are pretty pricey but its completely up to you.

You will need an dash kit to install any radio as these trucks aren't iso mount, as well as a harness adapter for an aftermarket radio but they generally run like 15 bucks a piece or less. It can be done and installed in an afternoon.

Crutchfield lists 2 double DIN units for your vehicle.

They're pretty good at listing installation kits required and any mod.s necessary to get unit to fit.

Just went through this with my "02". The double din requires a new dash panel for $200. I went with a single din popup screen Clarion NZ503, but navigation sucks, not even close to a Garmin. Cell phone works great through it. Supports backup camera. Sirius Xm capable. Not my first choice, but I wasn't paying an extra $200 for a plastic dash kit.

That was only a 99-02 problem. 03 and later fit a double-din fine. I have a pioneer double-din in mine.

Walt from ADC Mobile recommends their Rosen Car Show GM1210 unit. It looks pretty sweet. Does anybody have one of those? Any problems with it? Would you recommend it? It's pretty pricey but has a LOT of features.

(Walt says the ADC OGM-1 that some on other threads seem to like is no longer available.)
