06 Sierra Z71 steering rattle

looked though the forums and didn't see much, Have an 06 Sierra with a rattle from the steering rack, truck only has 30k. its a ext cab z71...

Had similar issue with my '04 Yukon XL. Had the intermediate steering shaft replaced. Same time that was done I also had the pitman arm and a ball joint replaced. Much better now. Although mine had 235k on it.

Mine is at 275,000 and experiencing those problems. Intermediate shaft and pitman arm should help fix that.

My '05 Suburban had the same thing at less than 20,000 miles. They replaced the steering shaft under warranty and no problems since. I think it's a known problem. I remember looking at an aftermarket parts catalogue and it offered aftermarket steering shafts that were touted to be much better than the stock ones. I'm assuming there's basically the same front on the Suburban and the pickup.

Steering wheel bearing too. It's an easy fix and pretty cheap.
