HID Installation Sierra

I’m new to this forum but this is how I installed HIDs from theretrofitsource.com. On the website it says an hour of labor which I’m sure could be done but I’m very picky and I try not to show wires. Just so you know you can say I did this the long way but to me it was the best way to do it.

I want to start by saying these lights are not cheap Chinese lights, they are pretty pricey but well worth it. I have bought a few different HID kits from ebay and these blow those out of the water from packaging to the parts they use you can really tell it’s a high end product. I bought the morimoto Sierra Spec kit with 50w ballast and 5500k bulb. It’s a huge difference from the sucky stock bulbs; these lights really make it a lot easier to see everything at night.

I started off by taking off the top panel above the radiator it’s just clips then it comes right off

you do this so you can get to the top screws of the lights and grill, if I remember correctly it’s 12 clips. Then I removed the air box which is pretty simple its just 4 screws you can use and 8mm or Philips screw driver.

after that you want to remove the plastic part that’s on the bumper you do that by removing 2 of the torx screws under the wheel moldings, pull the molding out a little and take off the 7mm bolt that’s facing upwards

once you’ve done that to both sides you want to pull the plastic towards the front of the truck to pop it out. It makes it easier if you have someone get under to push up on the clips so you’re not just pulling hoping not to break any.

Once that’s all done you’ll be able to see the screws to the grill it’s a 10mm I posted a pic of the front when it was all off but I circled where the screws go in different colors of the grill and the lights

obvisously the red is for the grill and green for the lights.

Having all that off makes it much easier finding a spot to hide all wires.

This is where I put the ballast on the passenger side, the light is able to clear it and once you have everything back together you can’t even see them. I did take off the mounting bracket and just used double sided tape which has always worked for me. The little red box is where I had to drill a hole that way I could feed the wires from the relays to the ballast ill show another pic where I put the relays.

As you can see the relays are in a hidden spot and can’t even see them unless you are really looking for them. This picture was taken once everything was put back together and as you can tell it looks really clean and there is no wires showing

This is where I drilled the hole to run the wires I used a 7/8 spade and it made the right size hole so the grommet fit perfect

And this is the driver side light you can see the wires on this side but they aren’t just thrown in there and to me they look pretty clean.

The link below is the retrofit source diagram of how to run the relays it’s not very hard and I feel I wrote a lot so I just thought I would just give you the link.

Hopefully this makes it much easier to install HID’s on your truck. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

This is what I did. Run the wires as per instructions, then drilled a hole in the covers, then used silicone to seal it all up. I had problems initially getting the lights to work, in the end it was just a bad ground. Make sure you ground it well. Hope this helps.

you should run a complete harness with relays, capacitor, resistors and ballasts.

Morimoto's is the best imho I was able to use the kit from my Ram and it works great.

no issue's
