Vibrations on Sierra VS. Silverado

So I'll start a new thread because there's Something we've noticed after test driving so many vehicles this past week. We're in the process of trying to find a replacement vehicle as part of a settlement.

We have driven 5 CC 2015 Sierra SLTs with 20" Goodyear eagles and a total of 3 2015 Silverados. One CC LT with 20" wranglers, one DC LTZ 4x4 with 20" tires (can't remember the tire brand) and one DC LT Z71 4x4 with 20" wheels (also can't remember the tire brand). All have been taken on the highway and driven in between 70 - 80 MPH.

The Vibrations on the Sierras are not as violent as the vibrations on the Silverados. The three Silverados plus my own were unbearable. The Sierras all had a slight Vibration on the highway.

What is really the difference between these two trucks that makes the vibrations "bearable"? There has to be something different that dampens the vibrations in the Sierras.

So is this "slight" vibration felt in the floor, seats, steering wheel, and center console normal? Or are there actually trucks out there that have absolutely ZERO vibration in these places?

I have zero vibration. How long were these trucks sitting? Tires might be a little flat spotted?

I have a '15 SLT CCSB and I have zero vibrations. Not while stock w/ SRA or after installing a 2.5" level either. Now with a 6" lift and 35" MT tires I still ride smooth as silk so there are trucks out there without this vibration problem.

Both of your trucks have been driven up to 80 MPH? just asking because you have some places where the speed limit is lower

Some were sitting for a few weeks, the worst of the worst was the CC Chevy we tried today that had a build date of 06/15 - so it JUST arrived from Mexico.

Thanks for confirming were not paranoid. There has to be trucks that have NO Vibration what so ever. We'll keep searching! I'll update the thread when I test drive more.

Both GMC and Chev trucks are the same except for cosmetics.

GMC is professional grade - Chevy is not. The dealerships confirmed that they use some more professional grade parts in the Sierras. For instance more insulated for a quieter cab. I'm wondering what other differences are there that make the Sierras not shake as violently as the Silverados.

Haha! Let me tell you how smooth my truck used to be at 95 ? we figured that could be a good excuse if we ever got pulled over...... "Officer, my truck doesn't drive properly otherwise!"

You've got to be kidding, right? There is absolutely no difference between a Sierra and a Silverado except a few different shaped body panels and air dam. The dealership that "confirmed" that to you is either idiots or are messing with you.

It is true that GMC is the Cadillac of the Silverado line. The same variances exist as far as fit and finish. You are correct though that as far as outside body parts they really only differ in the front clip of the two.

What variances in fit and finish? Examples?? You can tell yourself all you want that the GMC is better made but at the end of the day the sierra and silverado are the same truck and built exactly the same with the only difference being a few body panels.

Didn't make this up...

And in this 2015 model year, the interior styling is hugely improved with the much needed, all-new interiors.

Think of it like this: what is optional on Chevy, is standard on GMC. The Sierra uses more premium materials and finishings than the Silverado.

Both offer an 8" touch screen, but in the Chevy it's fake aluminum surrounding the centre stack, whereupon it's actual aluminum in the Sierra.

Auto week:

A fancier grille, specific exterior trim, addition interior niceties like the real metal trim and other small touches may not seem like much, but GM moves enough GMCs to make its existence warranted. Yes, this Sierra is just a nicer Chevy Silverado, which apparently people do want. I dont see a problem with that, especially if its helping the bottom line.
