Tonneau Cover Access To Top Rail Tie-Downs

I will be picking up my new Denali standard bed within the next week or two, so I am beginning to scope out acessories. Other than a spray-in bedliner and soft roll-up tonneau that I removed about 8 years ago, I never added anything to my 2002 Silverado, so I'm relatively new to accessorizing.

One of the 1st things I will add is a Tonneau, and I like the idea of a harder, fold-up cover like the Fold-a-Cover G4 or similar. But my question is this: do I lose access to my top rail tie downs with the use of these tonneaus? I was planning to install Bull Ring or similar retractable tie downs, but looking at some pictures, it looks like I cannot use the tie downs, even if the cover is open. If this is true, are there any tonneau installations that still allow access to the tie downs?

Any tonneaus that require a rail install may impact use of the top tiedowns I think.

I installed an Extang Solid Fold 2.0 that does not use rails, rather it sits on top of the bed so it doesn't have any impact on use of the top tiedowns.

Maybe that is an option for you.

My lopro trudexo leaves access to the tiedown holes. This is a roll top and not the tri fold type.

I think all rail type tonneaus don't cover the holes, but they may limit the possible angle of a strap for securing a taller object without damaging the rails.

If you plan to only secure stuff that can be strapped at a shallow angle then it is a non issue.

Also, you can always use the bottom tie down points for taller objects anyway, like motorcycles and ATVs.
