2003 Silverado 4x4 4.3 V6

After hours and hours of research this job DID NOT go as easy as I was led to believe

First off the cover snap ring was fused by rust to the case.By the time I got it off the snap ring looked like wet spaghetti .Junk.Broke a piece off the case to

Okay now that the snap ring is off, nope the cover would not budge, hours later I give up.So I put the snap ring back in as best I can and kinda hope that it holds.Well what I couldn't do in hours the trany blows out the servo in minutes of driving leaving me on the side of the road.In a weird way I'm finally glad it's apart at least.

So I get the truck home and find out that I have to take the servo totally apart while in the transmission. That was another surprise. So now I know it's gonna be a pain in the ass to assemble the servo piece by piece.

Be prepared for quite the job if you live in the rust belt.

I'm now waiting on a new snap ring as it didn't come with the servo kit

Yes, it sucks working on a vehicle of that age and one that has been in the salt baths of the great white north. Sorry to hear you had such a hard time of it. But look at it this way it is done now.

Found these marks on the piston, definitely not normal wear

Only 80,000 on the trany

Well after spending a lot of time removing the corrosion on the cover and using a lot of Vaseline to lube the servo its in and running perfect.Nice shifts,1-2,2-3 and downshifts perfect

It's a little tricky getting the servo installed piece by piece, but use some ingenuity ,vice grips and a lot of patience .

The snap ring went in fairly easy as long as you have the cover pushed in being held in place so you have both hands free.

Did your trans end up being good after the install almost looks like a piece of your case blew off near the window gap on the bottom?
