what are your opions on this topic? I have been told that with an intake the performance vairies on the wheather. Is this true? If i install an intake do you have to change any mass airflow sensors? Thanks in advance. I am going into this blind so before i make a decision i thought i'd check with you people.

What kind of vehicle to you have? I used both the drop in K and N and then the Intake on my 1996 GMC Jimmy 2Dr 4.3L. No noticable difference with the drop in. But I did notice better acceleration and fuel economy with the intake kit.

Just my .02

I had the K&N FIPK on my 01 Silverado and I really liked it. Then I switched to Moble 1 and really noticed a difference. The engine reved very quickly.

Correct.  If you decide to continue with more extensive (AND expensive) engine mods, a performance MAF might be worthwhile, but the stock MAF will work fine until then.

Good luck!

You don't have to change it ie buy a new one, but you do have to move the stock MAF from the stock air intake to the K&N one. It isn't that hard to install. I really took my time and I think it only took me a about an hour and a half to install.

Have the GEN II intake kits come down in price any?  I'd love to get a kit, but haven't priced them in a while.  For my 97 4.3 they were wanting around $250.

Imo, they are a bit overpriced.   :chevy:

Check out EBay.  I've seen a couple FIPKs for Silverados out there.  I'd bet you can find one for your ride too.  Just be patient, and check often.
