Ignition Key & FOB Remote Missing Stolen

2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3 4X4.

 

Well, the one key and one FOB is missing or stolen.

 

Does the 2002 Silverado have a chip key?

 

Can the same keys (that I have (2) be reprogrammed?

Or do I need a new ignition switch?

And new door lock mechanisms?

 

I have (had) three factory keys and factory remotes. One gone now. That leave me two factory keys and two factory remotes.

 

Other then installing an aftermarket kill switch or alarm system.

 

Can the remaining (2) keys and (2) remotes be reprogrammed?

 

If the ignition key is not a chip key - then do I require a new ignition and door locks?

No chip key. I had a spare made at a hardware store and it would start the truck and unlock the doors

No chip key. However I noticed when only using key to unlock doors, sometimes the alarm would go off.

 

Remote was about 100 bucks at the dealership and was easy to program myself
