Please only post on this thread if you're having the steering wheel clicking noise and you have no lift kit or leveling kit installed I would like to find out if people are only having this issue with a lift kit or leveling kit

I just had this happen overnight to my pickup (stock). Whenever I would turn the wheel at all it would click. Took it to the dealer and they replaced some U joint in the steering shaft. I dont know all the details on what they did, but it was all covered under warranty.

Can you post the service record from the dealership

The description on my receipt says "Found U Joint in Upper Intermediate Shaft Binding. Replaced Intermediate Shaft after Removing Adj. Pedals for Access then Reassembled and Tested OK". The part number used to replace is 23167615 (Shaft 6.526)

Did your truck do it all the time or only after you drove it awhile?

It just started one night out of the blue. It clicked when I drove it that night, then the next morning when it was colder out the clicking was very soft. After driving the pickup for about a half hour the clicking was back to loud and happening with every turn of the wheel. I got it to the shop that morning.

How long has it been since you had it fixed? How many miles have you out on the new part?

Thanks

Been a week since it was fixed, and probably 300 miles and no issues. It was a really random problem that just appeared out of the blue one night that I had fixed the following day.

The clicking noise started again so I took it back to the dealership they put it up on the hoist and followed where it was coming from and it's coming from inside the rack the passenger side tie rod is actually moving up and down the technician told me GMs if there is any modification to the suspension so they are blaming it on a lift kit.

There are a technical service bulletin on it the first thing they must do is change out the bushings at the end of the rock where the tie rods go in and if it still does it after they replace it and without the tie rod hooked up to the wheels then they'll replace the rack
