Hi folks...been a long while since I posted any new info on the SSBCC(ShortShortBoxCrewCab)for the simple reason things have been slow developing. Currently preparations are under way and are planned for summer shutdown. GM is in full acceleration mode to get these changes made, but the steady need for overtime cuts into the amount of worktime available to refit various areas. Production of this new model should begin at Christmas 2003. The question of box size on this new truck appears to be 5'10"...I have been told it's similar to the Avalanche without the plastic cladding...the interior is like the Avalanche...The new 1500 light duty crew cab is NOT recommended for 5th wheel trailer towing....thats it for now ...will post as it happens.

I wonder who they plan on marketing it too.  They already have their bases covered as far as I'm concerned by offering 3 Avalanches (1500 cladded and uncladded, and the 2500), and 2 crewcab shortbed trucks (1500HD and 2500HD).

I'd be interested in a 138 inch wheelbase crew cab like the Ford Supercrew. I really prefer it in a 3/4 ton. I'll still have to pass on the avalance and the air leaks and rattles I'd expect after a couple of years.

A Chevy version of the Supercrew would be great. I love my Screw and it would be great to have a Chevy version parked next to it. For my needs the Screw is perfect, seating for 6 and a bed for the occasional hauling I do. 95% of the time my bed serves as a giant trunk. I know this isn't perfect for everyone, but no one can deny the sales success the Screw is. I realize the Avalanche is based on this concept also, but I think a lot of people still look at it as more SUV than pick up.

I may be alone in this, but I'd look at something like the 1500HD or 2500HD crew cab with a 5-1/2' bed.  but I wouldn't want to give up the 8600+ GVWR.

Basically someting like the F-150 cre cab with the 5-1/2' bed but a little wider and with a greater GVWR and not a Ford.

Do tell!  Where have you seen them?  Do they look like the rest of the Silverado's?  Are they truly 6-lug?

I could be off here, but by the sound of what RyanbabZ71 posted in the original posting, what I have seen are Avalanches that do not have cladding.  They are 1500 4-door pickups with normal front fenders and box sides(not the Avalanche style straight lines) but the rest of the truck is just like the Avalanche.  As far as lugs..... I didn't look at that.  There are several of them at our local dealer here in Rogers, Mn.

John the trucks i speak of arent going to be built until december so you are not seeing these yet. Those are the avs without the body cladding

That's why I was a bit unsure when I posted.....  The models that I am speaking of do somewhat fit the cryteria of a 1/2 ton, 4-door pickup....   And now since the front end(grille) of a standard Chev. p/u is pretty much the same look as the Avalanche front end.....
