Wassup guys.....Finally found a forum for trucks.

Usually in the car thing.Anyways,Just bought a 93 Blazer to tow my boat.Would like to know any pertinent info on these little guys and what to look out for or preventitive maintence.

Give me the straight poop!!!

The Blazer is a 4.3 auto 4wd 4dr tahoe.It's got 120K on it.

1.Runs perfect. cool temp all the time seems maybe the idle is a little rough.

2.A/C is ice cold.Ran it for hours towing the boat never affected the engine temp

3.Tranny shifts nice.I guess it doens't slip or studder.Even yanking the boat out of the launch ramp and #### the boat and trailer weigh about 3500LBS.

Now for the problems!!!!!!!

1.The brakes seem to be on the weak side for sure. The right front make s little squeek when NOT stopping.Only when your foot is off the pedal.

2.The driver window doesn't work...No big deal..Fix that sometime today.

3.The 4WD seems to be tricky to disengage. It has the push-button on the dash.I can hear the soleniod shifting it but it seems to take some finessing from Forward to reverse to disengage? The light goes off but it's still in 4wd.Front tires will bite still.Any tricks to this?

4.The oil pressure seems to dip a bit low. After about an hour of running it wants to hit about 20PSI at idle in gear.Touch the pedal and she hits 40psi right away.Cold is about 50psi maybe a touch more.Driving in traffic or around town she is always just under 40 PSI.Now remember.....I DO NOT beat on this truck.....No need I a have toy for that. She should last me a good long time.Right? :thumb:

Welcome aboard man, sometimes this board is a little slow in reponses, but they usually have some good info.

You say it idles rough, do you know what kind of injection system it has? It is either CPI, Central Port Injection, or TBI, Throttle Body. The CPI has the air box next to the fender, and ther TBI has the circular air filter like carbureted engines do. The reason I ask is that the TBI will usually run pretty rough on idle on my brothers S10, but my 94 has the CPI and it runs smooth. I believe someone told me it was do to some sort of balancer that was put on the crankshaft on the CPI's...That is just I have heard though, I don't know of any truth to it.

The brake issue may be that the pad is staying in contact with the rotor and making the screeching sound, and whenever you apply the brakes it puts enough pressure so it won't screech. Maybe taking off the wheels and looking at it might tell you something further.

I have the same 4x4 push button as you do, and mine has no problems with it, and it has 130k miles, and I haven't heard of it happening on the push button either. So I can't really help you there, unless a Haynes manual will tell you anything.

I have no ideas about the oil pressure, except good luck.

I think you will enjoy your S10 blazer, I know that if you go 4 wheelin' any it will get the job done unless you are gonna be stupid... If you look through my pics you will see some of the stuff my bro took his 89' S10 blazer through at Shiloh Ridge, which I am planning on taking my truck there memorial weekend

Anyway, good luck, and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask...

Also, I forgot to mention, if your S10 sags in the back, like most of them do, mine and my bros. included, get some add a leafs for it, my bro got his from JC whitney, they are Rough Country and they went between the over load spring and the one right above it, lifted it back up to stock height, if not a little higher. I have Pro Comp add a leafs, and they went in the middle of the spring pack and lifted it up to stock height. The rough COuntry costed like 40 bucks and the Pro COmp costed 45 I think.... ANyway, good luck...
