Ground Line Outpt Converter?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am using a 4-channel line output ocnverter because the amp I bought used only accepts RCAs and I want to keep the orig head unot (2001 Silverado).  The 4 channel converter also has a ground wire.  Is this necessary if I have a ground on the amp?  If so, can I splice the converter ground into the amp ground or would it require a separate one?  Trying to avoid drilling another hole.

Thanks for any help!

You shouldn't have to use the ground off of the line output converter at all.

Mine actually came with instructions NOT to use the ground wires at all, unless you are getting a lot of feedback, or no sound at all.

Thank guys. I received some other advice too that it shouldn't be necessary so I think I'm set.

Thanks again!

I help a buddy install a Scosche line level adaptor in a 2000 Bonneville a couple weekends ago and it wouldn't work without being grounded to the chasis. Just a heads up for you. It took us about 10 minutes to figure this out once we had everything hooked up. Amp turned on, but we were'nt getting anything out of the sub. As soon as I touched the ground to a screw in the trunk sub started firing. :chevy:
